But it doesn't matter anymore. I've learnt a few very important lessons:
- Always be cirscumspect about people. If someone or something seems too good to be true.. you know what I mean :). Exercise caution, and never let yourself be pitched into something. Never.
- Romania shouldn't be the drain of all the failures of North America or Western Europe. We've got our own impostors, thank you very much. Until some months ago, all the foreigners that I've met in Romania were excellent people (think people like Paul from ColumbiaU - whom I worked with on his study on this religious group, think Lea - a wonderful designer from New York, think Ben and Kingsley from the Design Conspiracy, think John Griffiths, think Monika, think Milos, think Sinboy..) and I never seemed to understand why other Romanians were so adverse to foreigners. Now I know. There's a few of them that came here thinking they're better than everybody else, being obnoxious to everyone around, not caring about nor respecting anything about the local culture. And the worst part is, they're worst than most of the people here. All they've got for themselves is maybe a British or American passport. Big deal.
- Mimesis is the foundation for all creativity. For some people, at least. Think this wonderful website of k2discovery, and think the Brici website. Cool, huh?
- Never tell your boss you don't like the woman he's involved with. Never. Not even if he asks you what you think of her.
- Never work for anybody that doesn't understand blogs and facebook and twitter. Never accept to lock any of those things for your employer. Keep your freedom, no matter what.
Despite all these lessons I've learned the hard way (as always as it's the case with me :)) ), despite the horrible economic climate, despite everything, I can't help feeling that 2009 will be better than 2008.
I'm planning to graduate this spring (finally), so no full time job until then. I'll still do a bit of freelancing (whatever that means :)) ), and I'll definitely continue doing interviews for Feeder. Who knows, I might turn this interviews thing into a full time job.
Anyway, I've got a lot of plans, but I'm through with talking about my plans; it's high time I put them into action. In the meantime, I'm not sure of the future of undefined, but I'm definitely not shutting it down. I'll probably be more active on Twitter, so feel free to follow me there - http://twitter.com/nedefinit
